Purple Dragon’s Opening in Chelsea

Purple Dragon Launch Party

Finally, central London has a club where you can take the kids (and their friends) to swim, to run around, to create, to make noise, to cook, and to play while you can also unwind. The neighbours won’t complain about the noise, someone else can clean up the mess and you and your kids can maintain your social life. For those with growing families reluctant to throw in the towel and trade in central London for a garden in the hinterland, The Purple Dragon club may just be the solution.

Purple Dragon is so amazingly put together: it’s a bit like having the luxury lifestyle of a nanny, maid, tutor, pool and massive home with a huge playroom and really expensive high tech gadgets without the commute or requisite pay check.

The club feels like you are on a movie set of a futuristic spaceship for children. The focal point is a massive “imagination room” or lounge that is great for younger children and toddlers, with a separate area for babies. There is an enormous pod hanging from the ceiling; electric race car track;a space ship console; loads of interesting toys, legos; train and car tables; a home corner with dressing up; the room is completed with a 6 foot dinosaur and a huge volcano you can actually play in. Lined with luxurious sofas for mums and carers to relax, you are close enough to keep an eye on them, but far enough that they can play while you work or chat.

For bigger kids who need to run around, there is a huge climbing frame with a zip cord, trampoline, ball pits, slides, a ball shooter and much more. For kids who want to explore, discover and create, they can choose from music room, a design/computer/video/craft art room, and a kitchen for children. Parents can join in with their kids or they can book a teacher to guide them through different lessons and activities.

The club boasts its own pool with a water play area. There is an adult’s lounge; a family dining room serving what promises to be a fabulous menu of great food; a virtual golfing range; manicures and pedicure area … and that is not even all of it!! There is foosball, air hockey, games, computers, interactive whiteboards … I am forgetting something. The best part, even when bursting with children, there is a feeling of space and not an overwhelming amount of noise.

For about £77 per week, you and your child can join Purple Dragon club. With this membership you can bring guests, use the pool during open swim times, are entitled to two hour-long drop-off after school club daily from 3:30 – 6:30 for children ages 4+. You may also book classes and teacher-led explorations in the music, cooking, science, language, art, crafts, design, music and movement, all included in the fees.

When you add up the babysitting (if your kids are over 4) included in the fees and the fact that you can bring guests to the club to swim, eat, play and work, and someone else does all the work for you, it doesn’t really seem too bad.
