Buggy Bootcamp Hyde Park
Do you want to work off some of the baby fat while laughing with lovely people in Hyde Park? Would you like to work out without having to pay for childcare? Bring your infants and toddlers along and have them join in the fun, come and try out Hyde Park’s only licensed baby-friendly group fitness class, Buggy Bootcamp.
Group fitness instructor, and native Bostonian, Kerri Holland has put together one of the best exercise classes for mums, dads and carers of infants, toddlers and older kids. Buggy Bootcamp is first and foremost an excellent body conditioning class where you combine resistance, cardio, flexibility and more specialised fitness techniques to get a challenging work out while also talking with Kerri to get her expert advice on how to achieve your fitness goals. The best part about Buggy Bootcamp, your kids can come join in the fun. Are you scratching your head wondering how this could actually work?
Kerri is mum to two children, 18 months apart; she knows how to multitask with kids. While her children do not join her while she is teaching, she still fills up her double push chair with toys, mats, bubbles and more for the little ones who come along to Buggy Bootcamp. You get a results-driven workout with the instructor entertaining your kids and a pop-up play group at the end.
What I think is really special about Buggy Bootcamp Hyde Park is how Kerri is able to make the class so much fun and attract a great group of parents and carers to join in. There are no attitudes in Buggy Bootcamp; it is personable, relaxed and a great place to meet other really nice families.
The class meets at the bridge near the Serpentine Café (that is the little pedestrian bridge in Hyde Park near the café at the end of the Serpentine, not the road going through the park near the Lido Café) at 9:30am on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class starts with a thorough warm-up (particularly important to post-partum mums) to keep injuries at bay. The class then does a bit of interval training, mixing cardio with resistance (Kerri packs the resistance bands and jump ropes in the pushchair right along with the bubbles and toys) before moving into stretching. The class is for all fitness levels; Kerri is skilled at adapting the workout to each individual so that you are working at the optimum speed for your goals.
Afterwards, the mums take their kids over to the playground near the Hyde Park barracks and many make plans to meet up later in the week. What’s even better, Kerri has a rainy day fall back, they meet in Whole Foods High Street Kensington’s gorgeous VIP room on the 1st floor with sweeping floor to ceiling windows overlooking High Street Ken.
The other great part about BuggyBootCamp, it’s affordable and flexible. For a one-off class: £6. If you like it, get a 10 pack for £50 and you can use these any time you like. If you really like BuggyBootCamp, 3 months unlimited is £100. This is on par with the leisure centre, far less than a gym membership plus you don’t have to shell out for childcare and you will meet a great group of people. If you would like a bespoke, private training session in your home or elsewhere, Kerri is available 11am Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for £40 session or £350 for a 10 pack.Tweet
