Family Events Saturday 5th April

its all about the piano le institute francais

Le Institute Francais, Its All About the Piano: The Magic Piano and The Out of Tune Piano – watch an interesting film and then listen to a story with piano accompaniment, Saturday 2pm. Also, get free piano tuition.

Chorus Festival Southbank

Southbank, Chorus: Head over to Southbank for a variety of concerts and workshops over the weekend. Many are sold out, but there are still some interesting events open to all.

Somerset House Family Events Sat 5th April

Somerset House, Free Family Workshop: Rags to Riches. Noon-5pm. Inspired by the Japanese art of Boro, turn scraps of fabric into a carry-all for your precious findings.

Wigmore Hall, Family Concert with Colin Currie. 11am, £7 adults, £5 children. Bring your little ones to a spectacular percussion concert. Be entertained by a wide variety of percussion pieces and African drumming. For ages 5+

Lauderdale House, Saturday Kids Show, Mr. Squash: Come and enjoy the magical puppetry of Mr. Squash. 10am and 11:30am. Children under 2 free, adults and children £4.50

Gate Picturehouse, Kids Club: This week’s programme: Eleanore’s Secret. Tickets £1 with £4 membership, popcorn and juice £2. (best £3 you will ever spend on a rainy Saturday)

Barbican Family Film Club: This week’s feature: African Cats. Tickets are £2, bring the kids and escape the cold while you chill and watch a movie. Great price. 11am, all ages.

Electric Cinema, Kid’s Club: This week’s feature, Tinkerbell and The Pirate Fairy, 9:30am. Check out the newly refurbished Electric Cinema in Notting Hill with its plush, red velvet beds, sofas and armchairs. Looks like a great way for Dad to occupy the kids on a Saturday morning. Cecil Sharpe House May Day Enlgish Folkdance and Song Society

Family Barn Dance, Cecil Sharpe House: Come bring the kids and take part in a family barn dance. £6 adults, £4 children, under 2s free.

Ragged School Museum

Ragged School Museum Sunday Open House: come and have a look around Dr. Bernardo’s home for street children. Take part in the Victoria School experience at 2:15 and 3pm. Fabulous day to help put some perspective on post-modern childhood.

Wallace Collection, Little Draw: Free drop-in workshop for all ages in the education centre of the Wallace Collection. 1:30-4:30.

Two Temple Place, Sunday Craft: Join Eloise for a drop-in workshop; this week make creepy crawlies. Located just outside Temple tube stop. Free, all ages, drop-in, 2-4pm

Forge Arts Venue, Imagination Station: Bring the babies, from 4 months, along to this enchanting music and sensory class. From 10am Wednesday mornings, 4 months to 3 years.

Ritzy, Brixton, Big Scream: Fridays, 11am. £7.50. This week’s feature: 20 Feet from Stardom
