Ga Ga Theatre Company’s London-baby Half-Term Guide
Check out London’s latest craze in baby and family-friendly theatre, The Ga Ga Theatre Company. Enjoy the highest quality theatre in relaxed, family-friendly venues with family-friendly ticketing (children under 2 are free).
Over half-term, check out Up and Down, an enchanting play about a penguin who would like to learn to fly, based on a delightful story book with original score in a child-centred, 40 minute production. Book tickets now for Up and Down in Hammersmith 23rd-25th May; Finchley 27th May – 1st June; Richmond 3rd – 5th June; Chelsea 6th-8th June. Tickets £12 (children ages 2+ are ticketed).
Foundling Museum, Family Workshop – Paper Boats. Make your own boat filled with words and ideas inspired by the life of Thomas Coram. Head over to Coram’s Fields after and have a great day in Bloomsbury. Wednesday 28th, 10:30-4:30, adult entry £7.50, children free.
House of Illustration, Housewarming: Head over to Granary Square, King’s Cross for the newly opened House of Illustration is opening its door with a welcoming series of events for families. Head over Tuesday 27th May for Alternative ABC, 2-5pm. Help make the welcoming mural on Wednesday. Create your own mythological beast with mixed media on Thursday. Make your own 3D island on Friday and on Saturday, make a pop up calligram (a word that looks like its meaning).
King’s Place – Aurora Family Concert. Head over to Hall 2 on Saturday 31st for an enchanting family concert. £6.50 adults, £4.50 children, £16.50 family of 4, £19.50 family of 5. 10:15 for ages 0-5 years old.
Geffrye Museum: Tuesday – Friday, a wide variety of interesting, hands-on making and doing events including clay, fabric and weaving. Free, all ages
Wigmore Hall, Musical Mysteries: Bring children ages 5+ to Wigmore Hall and find the disappearing drums. Join Hermione Jones and musicians from the Royal Academy of Music. Tuesday 27th may 10:30-3:30. £12 adults, £8 children.
Inner Temple Gardens - Art in the Garden, the Long Draw: Sunday 1st June noon-4pm. Bring your own picnic and head over to the expansive and beautifully landscaped Inner Temple Gardens to make art and chat with the gardeners and help make a 10 metre mural. Bring your own art supplies and sketch on your own.
Hyde Park, Isis Education Centre: Come to London’s most secret and enchanting space, The Isis Education Centre. On Tuesday 27th, Nature Explorer Gardening Gang for children 8-12 years old can come and join the resident scientists to learn the beginnings of gardening, £15, drop-off. Come on Wednesday and Thursday from 11am – 3pm for Nectar Explorer to explore the centre, make butterfly feeders, make flower pots , look for life in the pond and enjoy a quality afternoon in a lovely setting.
Whitechapel Gallery: Make your own film! Film images, add voice, edit and enjoy your finished project. Saturday 24th May noon – 4pm, all ages.
28th – 31st May Royal Court Theatre, Short Plays for Children: This is a very special event. Plays written by and for children, directed and acted by the Royal Court – great fun for the entire family at a reasonable price £10 adults, £5 children. Book early as these go quickly.

Aquababies Swimming Classes: New classes Tuesdays 11:30 – 1pm, few spaces remaining. Aquababies, a specialist swim school for infants and toddlers up to 3 years old, has a few openings remaining in their Marble Arch venue at exceptional value - £75 for 5 week course. Holland Park Ecology Centre: take part in hands-on activities in Holland Park. Ages 5+, children 8+ can be dropped off. Tuesday 27th – Friday 30th morning sessions: 10am – noon and afternoon: 2-4pm.
Wallace Collection: Check out the activities on at The Wallace Collection this half term. There is a Decorative Daggers workshop on Thursday, the Little Draw on Sunday 1st June.
British Museum: Marvellous Mummies – head over to the Great Court in the British Museum for a selection of interesting hands-on activities for children of all ages. All free, all ages. 11am-4pm Monday 26th – Friday 30th.
Chelsea Physic Gardens: Come to Chelsea’s enchanting world of medicinal plants and have the kids take part in workshops. Tuesday 27th, Passion for Plants 5+. Thursday 29th, The Lost Art of Nature Printing, ages 10+. Friday 30th May, Introduction to the Magic World of Honeybees, ages 7+.
National Portrait Gallery: come and take part in a series of making and doing activities focusing on portraits from the gallery.
National Gallery: Tracing Landscapes - all ages workshops Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Stay and Play, Magic Carpet Ride and Drawing Stories – lots on for Under 5s Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
